[He has been learning it effortlessly from watching people tonight, but this is still part of his first times dancing, okay-- He cocks his head, quirking up one of his eyebrows.]
I'm not sure. Do you want to? Or do you want me to?
[He'll turn it on him. Tell him what you want, Komaeda.]
It might be safer if it's you. I'd definitely crash us into the dessert table.
[That's just the hard truth of the matter. Besides, following Hinata has always been one of his favorite pastimes. Dancing is a bit different, but close enough. His fingers curl into the fabric of Hinata's suit coat at his shoulder before smoothing over it, just a casual mostly unconscious touch.]
[Hinata grins, though he can feel a blush threatening, glancing down to where Komaeda's pale hand is set against his shoulder. It shouldn't make a lump happen in his throat, no, that'd be silly... yes. Silly.]
Yeah, count on me. I'll steer us away from dessert tables. [And he steps, pulling Komaeda into the dance.]
[It's not silly. Komaeda is full of butterflies. Because he's a nerd and he's dancing with his boyfriend and he's absurdly happy about it. It's such a normal, everyday thing -- the sort of thing he never thought he'd get to do, never thought anyone would want to do with...
He cuts off, because Hinata doesn't like him thinking those thoughts, and the other boy's influence on him sticks more than he realizes sometimes.]
Should I share a secret, Hajime? I always count on you. [He's decided, lost his doubt about the sort of person Hinata really is, really decided to be, despite everything.]
[Hinata blinks-- and his cheeks redden, heat sweeping through his chest, feeling him up with gratitude, affection. Komaeda always counts on him. He's pretty sure there's nothing that could make him happier than that, knowing Komaeda's moved on into believing in him.
Even as much as it makes him feel knowing Komaeda loves him, to know that he believes in him and counts on him, too-- it's a potent feeling.]
...Thanks. I think that's one of the best secrets I've ever gotten to hear.
[Komaeda smiles at the reaction. Does it make Hinata that happy? Did he really want Komaeda to believe him that badly? It mattered that much? Somehow that makes Komaeda feel warm all over. He's never really mattered to anyone that much, or really at all, before Hinata.
So he just shakes his head.]
There's no reason to thank me for the truth, is there? [Simple as that. But he thinks he knows what Hinata means anyway.]
[Hinata would think he'd made it obvious, how much he'd wanted Komaeda to believe in him-- Loving him just increased that want for him to believe in Hinata, to trust him.]
Of course there's a reason. I'm happy, and I'm grateful... so I'm gonna thank you.
[He slows in the dancing then, giving him a playful look before moving to spin him.]
[Komaeda allows a softer expression on his features now. Grateful. To him. But it is the truth. He's tried to be as suspicious as possible about Hinata, about Kamukura, but Komaeda is pragmatic enough to realize the only evidence he's been given is that Hinata is making different choices, making the best of his ability to do so.
It makes him hopeful that he can do it too, somehow, even if it's him. He wants to make Hinata believe in him too!
But thinking is dashed to bits when he sees that look, and a laugh bursts out of him as he's spinned. Hey. HEY, Hinata.] A-ah! Hajime-kun!
Hmmm? [Hinata's grinning broadly as he keeps on spinning him, until he can pull Komaeda close again. He slides his hand back securely around his waist and dips in close, nudging their foreheads.]
[Komaeda moves to slide both arms around Hinata's neck now, so he can pull himself close, smiling. One hand moves to settle against Hinata's cheek, fingers caressing lightly over skin.]
It was a little surprising... [And maybe he sounds a bit breathless now, but he's smiling.] But I didn't say I don't like it.
[Hinata's face turns slightly, into the press of his fingers. These days, he can hardly tell which one's the real hand and which one's the prosthetic. His own work, but also because Komaeda's fallen back into being so comfortable with two once more.
His eyes close for a moment as he thinks this, content.]
[Komaeda informs him before the laugh he's been holding back escapes.] But even if I do, there's really no denying that I like it anyway.
[He does like it, okay? So any complaining would be at best just noise. So maybe he's leaning a little closer while they dance, while they're close. Maybe he's forgotten they're quite as in public as they are, but it's hard to remember when he's actually feeling this at ease.
Fingertips -- and they are his prosthetic; Hinata's right really. He uses them as though they're both his flesh and blood -- continue over Hinata's cheek for a moment before he wraps that arm around him as well.]
That's entirely possible. Though it's hard to say if there was anything entirely benevolent about that CEO either. At least he didn't outright murder someone to take powr -- that we knew of anyway.
[Who knows what happened before they got here, right? But that's morbid too. Komaeda shakes his head and leans into Hinata as they drive on more.] I think we should try to find out more about them though. That has to be important.
[What are their motivations? And where did they even come from?]
And I'd like to know why we hadn't heard of them up until now... what were they doing before? For how long?
[He steers his bike around another corner, slowing the pace slightly so that they can hear each other better and so that he can glance back over his shoulder to check behind them.]
[Komaeda nods in full agreement.] If they were in a position to take power like that, you'd expect that they wouldn't seem like they just suddenly appeared. Unless they were deliberately staying hidden.
[Creepy murdering folks who stage coups might do that though. He notices Hinata slowing though, notices him looking back.] I think we're safe now. Sloths are pretty slow.
[At least he's able to joke about it a bit. He's still really totally over that sort of bullshit though. Super over it. He leans closer to nuzzle at the back of Hinata's shoulder.] Thank you for rescuing me.
Staying under the radar so the former CEO didn't suspect them of what they'd do... or something.
[But he slowly slows his bike further, turning into the residential district, coasting closer to the apartment.]
I'm just glad I was in time to help. [He doesn't want to see anything happen to Komaeda, after all.] Though, er, I wonder how dangerous those sloths would've gotten...? [Because they were sloths...]
That sounds like the sort of nefarious reasoning that'd be used, doesn't it?
[Yup. Can't trust the new guys. Couldn't trust the old guys. Maybe there is no good option here.
He laughs at Hinata's next question though.] Mm. Mostly they were giving me a headache at the time. But they did manage to kidnap me... I wonder if I should be embarrassed by that. [Kidnapped by sloths. A new low.]
[Komaeda will take that pity point that Hinata has offered. Sentient huge sloths. Yes. Less pathetic if they were that. Sure.
He doesn't move to climb off the bike even as it stops. Instead his arms tightened around Hinata as he leaned back, holding him all too happily. It makes the whole mess of the day feel that much better now.]
Even if it was a rescue from sloths, it was still heroic, you riding in like that. [A pause and he adds,] It's kind of a turn on, you know. [He shouldn't be allowed to talk.]
[There's silence from Hinata and he's glad his face is still turned forward... he's blushing, his ears feeling hot.]
A-at least you didn't tell me that when I was driving, [he mutters, looking down at the motorcycle's handlebars with a small scrunch to his nose. He probably would've swerved around a bit accidentally...]
I thought I'd wait until we'd come to a full stop. Road rash isn't a turn on at all.
[Sorry, Hinata. He's started. He must be stopped. He just tightens his arms around Hinata now, pressing his face at the back of his shoulder with a smile that he tries to hide there.]
But now it seems safe for you to know it. [He's been swept off his feet okay?]
[Komaeda fusses sulkily, but the smile is still on his face, still hidden against Hinata's shoulder, and his arms tighten around him in a hug. He trusts Hinata not to tip them over, of course.
He probably ought to let him go so they can park the bike and go inside, but it's comfortable and warm right now.]
[Hinata quips back, finding his sulky fussing cute... He's gotten to see so many of Komaeda's faces since they became a couple, and every expression and aspect of Komaeda is fascinating to him.]
[Question turned right back around, but he lifts his head in favor of planting his chin over Hinata's shoulder now, turning his head so he can press a kiss to his cheek, just by his ear.]
Maybe they're something besides nice, too. [He can admit it.]
