[INTO THE LIVING ROOM since it's a special occasion. They'll eat together in front of the tree, and Hinata places the plate on his knees and nods for Komaeda to sit opposite him.]
I'd be happy with anything, if it was coming from you.
[And that's true. He thinks about what he really wants most of all, though.] As for what I want most... I want to be with you. [And the others, of course, he wants to be with them all... but he longs to be with Komaeda, for a long time after this.]
[Komaeda is all too happy to settle himself down nearby Hinata, looking from the plate back up to the other boy. This is too nice. Some small part of him in the very back of his mind is still waiting for the other shoe to drop, but that voice has gotten much quieter over all this time.
But Hinata is being too good to him again. Happy with anything. Jeez. He's about to scold him for being too forgiving of his horrible taste in gifts, but then Hinata says the next thing and it stops him silent. There's no hiding the pleased smile stretching over his face. Hinata wants to be with him. The most.]
Then... we're in agreement. That's something I can give you. As long as I can.
[Hinata looks at him with a soft, open expression, taking in Komaeda's pleased expression fondly. He leans forward, minding the plate, to press a kiss to his forehead, then the tip of his nose, just grazing their lips before leaning back.
He'll just get some of this food on a fork and lift it up, offering it to him.]
Mm. And even longer. [There's a small spark of determination in his eyes. However long that winds up being... Hinata will make it longer, one way or another. When they get back, they'll figure things out.
[Komaeda's eyes shut at the first kiss to his forehead, so the ones that follow are unseen and a faint surprise, and he tilts his chin up to meet that brief graze of Hinata's lips to his own before the other draws back.
There's a smile finding its way over his features, that only brightens when that fork is held up. Oh! Really? Without even having to convince Hinata to doing it? Today really is the best Christmas ever.]
Even longer... mm. I want to believe that's true too. [Even if he fears it might not be, because of him and what he's done, the coma, the illnesses. But they have no place here right now. Instead he takes a piece of food with his fork, offering it up to Hinata.]
[Yes, no convincing needed today! He's all for pampering Komaeda. He watches him eat, satisfied, leaning forward to accept the bite offered to him. His mind wants to go and mull over the serious things they're skirting.]
That's the kind of future I'm going to do my best to make, [he says softly as he lifts up another bite for him on his fork.
He'll do anything... Komaeda's illnesses are bad, but they can still work on them, as soon as he wakes up... Their time doesn't have to go by in the blink of an eye.]
[They are walking the fine line around those serious things, the darker issues that Komaeda spends so much time deliberately not thinking about. He doesn't want to ruin the mood of Christmas morning with them either.
Besides, when Hinata says things like that, Komaeda thinks he can even believe him. So he takes that next bite, chewing thoughtfully before nodding.] Me too. I'll do whatever I can, Hajime.
[He'll do his very best and hope his luck doesn't just sabotage him entirely.]
[Hinata looks at him, face gentle, and moves to spear one of the cherry tomatoes he cooked up alongside the omelet. He blows on this lightly before extending it to Komaeda.]
Aaaah! [Komaeda happily takes the next bite. Hinata is spoiling him rotten today. All these great things. He hums softly in appreciation, offering another bite up to Hinata. These dumb couple-y things are the best things.
He never expected he'd want something like this as much as he does.]
It really is delicious. Thank you for cooking, Hajime.
[He might be scooting closer now. That's okay right?]
You're welcome. [He leans forward to accept the bite in turn, chewing, completely comfortable with it by now. His eyes lid in pleasure, contentment, though they open up when he realises Komaeda's coming closer.
He welcomes it, though, setting the plate between them instead on the floor so he can settle his palm at Komaeda's knee.]
You're sort of spoiling me though. I should try to cook for you too.
[He has tried before. It tends to not go so well. But he puts his all into it! He always tries. That's sort of the tragedy of his life. Komaeda isn't one to go half way, it's just not always the best outcome.
Right now though, things are going pretty well. He reaches his free hand out to settle atop Hinata's at his knee.] Though I wonder if that sounds more like a threat than something nice.
[He does always try... and Hinata appreciates it even if his mouth does not always do the same. He twines their fingers with a slow twist of his hand, their thumbs catching together, and he leans in closer to him.]
It sounds like you want to do something good for me... what's not nice about that?
[Even if he still needs cooking practice, hey, that he wants to do that gives Hinata warm fuzzies.]
[That's the not nice part. He's just being realistic. But he does want to do something nice for Hinata, so he's going to try anyway! He's going to make Hinata something delicious. The best meal ever.
Except maybe not. Time will tell. He laughs now though.] Saying things like that though, it really does make you sound pretty love struck. That has to be dangerous. Where is your self preservation? [He's teasing okay? Because he's also happy to tangle their fingers together securely.]
[He can manage a little food poisoning!! No problem. After Pyramid Head, he'd take food poisoning any day of the week, though he would prefer there be none... but it's still an acceptable risk.]
Funnily, it's gotten pretty low when I'm with you. Must be all the love.
[And for Hinata's self-preservation to get low nowadays is no small feat.]
[A heavy sigh and a shake of his head] That's worrisome. Especially when it's around me. My luck could drop the ceiling on us. Or what if it turned out I was a dangerous person.
[Heaven knows he has been in the past, though he's come a long way since believing that using himself a pawn in the murder game for the sake of hope.
But he's glad, that Hinata trusts him and loves him enough to let his guard down. He shifts all the closer, leaning over to press a kiss to the corner of his lips.]
I think that we've gotten past your dangerous person phase.
[Where Komaeda was killing himself and trying to see the rest of them dead. Hinata watches him closer and leans in, touching their lips together.]
...And, I'm not afraid of your luck. If the ceiling drops on us, we'll dig our way out, if the ground gave out, we'd climb our way up. I'm here because I want to be, and nothing's going to change that.
[Komaeda murmurs thoughtfully, but he kind of agrees with Hinata. Some part of him feels more settled these days. Like the frenzy of living for hope, that desperation to be a stepping stone for more useful people, it's calmed down. He's learned those lessons the hard way, and now he's trying to make Hinata proud of him more than anything else.]
Ah... sometimes you say really sweet things, you know. [Like he's complaining. But he's not really. In fact he's leaning in to chase that kiss.]
[It had to have been a phase-- because, in time, it calmed. Hinata blames their situation, mostly, thinks to what Nanami said. If it hadn't been for all of that, Komaeda wouldn't have done what he had. It didn't change that he had done all of those things, but, well...
They've already moved forward, putting that behind them. Otherwise, Hinata couldn't move to cup his face so gently and kiss his lips.]
Here I'm just trying to tell the truth, [he murmurs to his mouth. He wants Komaeda to live for himself these days, wants him to think of his own happiness and his future.]
[No he's done terrible things. They both have, but somehow they're... they're different people, aren't they? Than who they used to be? Komaeda wants to think that they are, even if it's a frightening thing in its own way.
Frightening but wonderful because he can lean into that touch, can meet that kiss. Life is pretty great, right? It really is.
His lips stretch into a smile against Hinata's.] Being truthful is a good quality. I'm just glad that those things are the truth. [He catches his lips in another kiss.]
I wouldn't be able to lie to you, even if I wanted to.
[Komaeda would catch him-- not that he'd ever. He's done lying, pretending he doesn't care, they've long moved past that part of their relationship, and now there's just this.
Kissing Komaeda again, moving his lips warmly over the shape of his smile and being glad that he is smiling.]
[Komaeda has done his share of lying in the past, but he wants to leave that behind too, especially where Hinata is concerned. Much more important is returning that kiss, looping his arms around Hinata's neck, draping himself against him. He may have forgotten about breakfast entirely.
[Sounds good, is what he'd be saying but his mouth is occupied. Kisses to be had, and all. Hinata sighs into Komaeda's mouth, smoothing a hand along the back of his neck, fingers finding their way up into his still bed-mussed head of hair.
They'll have to get back to breakfast eventually.
And, of course, presents. Which have been waiting oh so patiently all this time.]
[Presents! Komaeda just hopes that Hinata likes the really hideous Christmas sweater that he got for him. He totally got himself a matching one too. It's the big present! Except no, he actually got real presents too okay.
But he'll think about those when he's done kissing Hinata. It may take a little while until he's done, especially as those fingers find their way into his hair. That's okay with him, yes. He leans in closer, murmuring Hinata's name to his lips.
This continues to be the best Christmas that he has ever had. Ever.]
[Hinata can feel a shiver going through him at that murmur, right up against his lips like that. He threads his hand again and again as best he can through Komaeda's bed-mussed hair, stroking it, tugging softly.
He mmms quietly into his mouth, an attempt at returning his name quickly foiled by how quickly he's getting more and more into this kiss...]
[Komaeda's lips twitch into a smile even in the midst of that kiss because he can tell it's his name. His boyfriend is adorable. Is it wrong to think that so endearingly while he's also getting swept up in kissing him, in the fact that more than opening presents it makes him want to start tugging Hinata's clothes off.
Also a merry Christmas, but he should be more focused. Maybe.
Instead he's breathless, and winding his arms around Hinata, scooting closer like he fully plans on climbing into his lap.]
