[Hinata's lips quirk up, pleased. Komaeda believes in him, huh. He really does. It's not as though it's something Hinata doubts, but it's still nice to hear it once in a while, feel that warming him through his whole body. So he nods.]
That's right. There's no way in hell I'd give up.
[He reaches out to him, moving to catch him by the hand, give him a gentle tug, tugging him toward the kitchen.] Especially not when I have you here waiting for me...and ready to smack me if I even think about giving up.
[No way in hell. That's his Hinata. Komaeda looks pleased at that answer, like it's something he was waiting to hear, something that is reassuring enough that as he's taken by the hand, he exhales a quiet laugh, following along.]
That's right. I've been practicing my smacking too.
[Because he is a dedicated guy, okay? That's how he rolls.] Though I didn't get a chance to put it to use this time.
[Since Hinata hadn't lost himself, he'd been lost by CERES. Deliberately. A quiet moment, and he adds,] He's different than he used to be, you know.
[Hinata blushes slightly. He doesn't know why. Something about Komaeda's pleased look, and a bit of late embarrassment at his own words. But he tips his head until he can push a kiss against Komaeda's cheek before turning to lead the way to the kitchen.
His steps slow just slightly, just for a moment at the words.] Aa... Kamukura?
[His free hand slides over his hair absently.] Yeah. I think you're right.
[Komaeda shuts one eye at the kiss, a quiet exhale of a laugh before he follows along after Hinata, towards the kitchen. Breakfast! Not that it matters what they do so long as he can stay close to the other man for now.
It's reassuring.
He slows as well, nodding at the question.] You've rubbed off on him.
[A little. And only a little, but still any change at all in Kamukura is remarkable. Komaeda doesn't know what it means, but it's interesting. And he's hopeful. Somehow. And also,] He kissed me.
[That brings a more complicated welling of emotions. Kissed him... Kamukura, huh. But, well, it's not like he can be jealous of himself, though he is somewhat interested. Oi, did you?
...
Except, Hinata remembers, a bit. Good, he didn't bite Komaeda or anything.] I... guess he really is becoming more like me after all. No, maybe we're just not as separate anymore. [And so he can't feel particularly envious or bad-natured feelings, just kind of a bemused amazement and also appreciation that even though Hinata wasn't here, he wasn't completely gone.] Did it bother you?
[Not even a little biting. Komaeda isn't sure whether or not that should be surprising. He nods at Hinata's observation. That sounds right to him, though he's only an observer. Hinata would know, with that other self inside him.
Sometimes it frightens him, makes him worry for the other man. But Hinata is stronger than he would have imagined, stronger than he ever would have guessed in that time so long ago, on that island.
The question has a smile rising on his features, subdued and quiet, but genuine still. Not a mask, not subterfuge. Hinata sees through that anyway.] No. The way it is now, Kamukura is a piece of you.
[A piece, but still a piece of Hinata.] ...not my favorite piece though. [Just. For the record.]
[Hinata laughs at that, little more than a voiced exhale, and he lifts his eyebrow at Komaeda.] Aa, well, he's not my favourite, either. But I think that he'll look out for you like I will. Just in a slightly different way. So I'm not as nervous as I used to be.
[His lips curve, settling into a satisfied smile, and he pulls Komaeda into the kitchen, leaving him in order to go over to the fridge, starting to pull out ingredients for breakfast.]
I'm still counting on you to smack me if I need it, though.
[Quiet though the laughter may be, it makes Komaeda smile. There's been no laughter from the other man at all these past days, so it's a beautiful thing to hear. He does look surprised though. Because Hinata thinks Kamukura will look out for him -- is that something he's worried about? Komaeda being looked out for?
It makes his heart flip a little in his chest.]
Hajime... [A shake of his head before he laughs as well.] As hard as I can, mm!
[See how cheery he is about it too? He wants to be helpful.]
[Hinata looks back at him when Komaeda shakes his head, grinning at him. There might be something a little bit playful in that grin too as he pulls out a couple of pans to start cooking in.] Well, I already know you can hit pretty hard.
[Even harder if he gets Komaeda into working out with him a bit as well. There's already been some exercises he taught him after he gave him the prosthetic, to work on the weaker muscle strength of that arm...]
[Komaeda looks at the ingredients that Hinata has assembled before his gaze flickers over towards him with an amused grin. He lifts his prosthetic hand -- though it takes him a moment to remember which that is -- wiggling his fingers at Hinata.]
Thanks to your help, really.
[Yup! But oh wait working out? He's such a wimpy thing though. Still if Hinata asks him, he'll totally do it with him.] So what's for breakfast?
[Hinata just smirks at those wiggling fingers, lifting his own and play-catching at the air in front of them.] At least I'm useful as a punching bag, huh? [But his tone is all play and ease as he looks back at the ingredients he's laid out, thoughtful.]
I was thinking about a Western breakfast... Eggs, toast... Have any requests, Nagito?
[Komaeda laughs -- and it feels good to laugh. It's strange how quickly he feels so much better, even if he's still concerned and annoyed at how CERES can throw their lives into absolute tumult without their being able to do anything about it.] Well, you have at least a couple other uses too, I'm sure.
[He shakes his head at the question.] Mm-mm. That sounds great.
[Anything sounds great if Hinata is making it.] What can I do to help?
Just a couple, though. [Hinata quips back at him as he spoons some butter into a pan, watching it sizzle softly as the metal heats. He grabs a couple of eggs, peering back at him with a smile.]
Can you make the toast? This'll be a pretty simple breakfast...
[Westerners... though, he likes eating this food now and again anyway.]
[Komaeda answers. It's nice, falling into playful teasing. Plugging in the toaster, he's grabbing up the bread and popping a couple pieces for both of them in to toast up.]
I think I can manage toast. Probably.
[Not gourmet toast, but hopefully not burned and smoking. Remains to be seen still. He snags up the jam from the fridge... and a spoon. Don't judge him he's just going to eat a spoonful of jam there's nothing wrong with that.]
[Hinata pauses when he sees him eat a mouthful of jam... and then, with one hand still on his spatula, the other holding the frying pan as the eggs begin to cook, he leans over in his direction.
[Teasingly but well. That one is true. The fact that Hinata has faith in him of all people is something that keeps Komaeda going, makes him want to be better than he knows he actually is.
He freezes with the spoon in his mouth, lips wrapped around it as he sees Hinata go and lean. For a moment he thinks he's about to get scolded. But nope. Instead! Instead it is so much better! Komaeda smiles around the spoon before finishing his bite and snagging a little spoonful for Hinata, holding the spoon out to feed him!
It's... it's silly but it's one of those really stereotypical couple-y things that he really likes a lot, so for once there's a faint flush rising across his cheeks. A pleased blush, okay?]
[Hinata blushes-- both at what he says, teasingly as it's said, and at seeing Komaeda blushing as he holds out the spoonful. He accepts it with eyes shut tight with embarrassment, shyness, and grumbles as he rolls his tongue over the jam in his mouth.
After he swallows, he mumbles:] Why's it at that that you blush?
[It's amazing that he blushes at that and not all of the other super embarrassing things...]
[Komaeda blinks at the question, a sheepish laugh escaping as he taps the spoon against his lips, a thoughtful gesture as if he's really considering the question. But the answer is actually quite clear.]
Well... I suppose it makes me feel shy, something sweet like that.
[Sweet things. Sweet, sentimental, emotional things make him shy! Or well, at least less shameless. So yes, for the record, skimpy negligees and matching thongs? No blushing. Feeding his boyfriend while the're cooking breakfast together? Definitely blushing.]
[Hinata raises his eyebrows at him incredulously, but it's a fond kind of incredulity. He shakes his head and moves to flip the eggs over, turning down the heat to let them sizzle the rest of the way cooked.]
A little, but... at least there's something that makes you feel shy.
[Though it isn't fair he doesn't get shy at all the actually embarrassing things.] ...Hey, hold still a sec. [Now that he thinks about it, he'd like another taste, so leans in, brushing away the hand tapping the spoon to Komaeda's lips so that he can catch them in a kiss.]
[Komaeda is used to incredulous though! He gets that a lot -- though not always with the fondness accompanying it. That fondness is nice. It makes a big difference, and he loves seeing that on Hinata's face.]
There are a lot of somethings that make you shy, aren't there, Hajime?
[It's cute. Blushing Hinata is one of his favorite things. He blinsk at being told to hold still though, looking at him curiously. But he freezes because Hinata asked him too, head tilted to the side quizzically.
Until there's kissing and then all questions are answered and he couldn't be happier about the explanation. A soft hum and he leans into that kiss, eyes drifting shut.]
[Hinata just smiles into his lips, having successfully evaded having to answer, and slides his fingers absently along Komaeda's jaw. He touches at his cheek, pads of fingers stroking delicately over skin.] Mmh--
[But he doesn't hold it for too long, pulling back and licking at a corner of his mouth with a little grin.]
Thanks to you, it's getting to be less than 'a lot'.
[Komaeda wonders just how a touch can feel so warm, can send a wash of comfort just straight through him. His eyes flutter again and he sighs almost in disappointment as the kiss ends. Well... they'll burn the eggs if they're not careful, so he won't complain.
He will fix a faintly amused look on Hinata instead.] Is it? Then I'm happy to know that I'm helping!
[..."helping!" That's Komaeda. Always a helper. Isn't Hinata a lucky lucky guy?]
I never said it was helping, just that I've had to get used to some of it.
[Hinata sticks out his lips slightly with a little huff as he turns off the oven and side-steps in Komaeda's direction. He leans over, until he can plant his cheek on Komaeda's shoulder, overcome by affection for him, warmth.
[Yup. Komaeda is totally counting it. He is the best helper. He's decided. There's a pause in his self congratulating anyway when that cheek hands against his shoulder. His heart flips over itself, and he smiles, turning to nuzzle into Hinata's heir gently.
Hinata is back. Komaeda is glad too. It's remarkable how it feels like his life has fallen back into place now.]
I love you. [The words burst out of him before he even realizes he's spoken them. But he means them.]
[Hinata smiles at the words, his eyes closing as he rubs his cheek against the bone of Komaeda's shoulder. Absently at first, and then he turns his head to kiss it deliberately, looking up at Komaeda with a content expression.] I love you too.
[He shifts to take one of his hands, twining their fingers together.]
