A pleasure to make your acquaintance as well, Nagito. I'm fine though, do not worry. I think I was able to move quickly enough that the tree did not have a chance to notice me, fortunately. [He is kind of a twig and built more for speed than strength. Sometimes that comes in handy!!]

Is sentient plant life common on this planet? It strikes me as slightly odd to hold a party in this location without disposing of these beforehand...

Or is this some form of Christmas tradition?

Then I'm glad to hear it. It's no good for anyone to get eaten by a tree at a party. That'd definitely be against the festive spirit.

[But he's quick to shake his head.] I've never run across it here before. I've seen it in the last place I was though. But it's definitely not a tradition I've heard of before. It's not exactly enjoyable if it is.

[A chuckle.] Yes, I may not know much about Christmas, but getting eaten by a tree is certainly not something I would use the word "festive" to describe.

May I ask what you mean by "the last place I was", though? I assume you are not referring to your homeworld when you say that?

You've got it right. Before I wound up in this place, I was taken from my world to a place called Haven. [A laugh, sheepish really, and just faintly uncomfortable.] It was a really difficult place, to be honest. A lot of terrible things happened and most of the time we didn't have enough food or safe shelter.

[So this place? Total luxury even if sometimes things try to kill them. Minor details.]

[There's a slight pause as Faize seems to try and figure out just what on Earth to say to something like that. Did he make Komaeda uncomfortable? He kind of feels like he did. Oops.]

...I am uncertain whether to call you fortunate or unfortunate. Being taken from one's home against one's will is terrible enough as a singular event. But twice? [He can only imagine how much poor Komaeda must miss his home world. Surely it's a lot!] At least this planet seems more hospitable than this "Haven" place. What a truly ill-fitting name...
